Frito-Lay to Deploy 700+ Electric Delivery Vehicles to Reduce Environmental Impact

Frito-Lay, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, has announced its plans to deploy more than 700 electric delivery vehicles in the US by the end of 2023. The move is part of the company's commitment to reduce its environmental impact and contribute positively to the world.

According to Frito-Lay officials, the deployment of electric vehicles is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 7,052 metric tons per year, which is equivalent to removing 1,533 passenger cars from the road. Although the company did not specify the type of electric vehicles it plans to use, it has emphasized its commitment to using its iconic brands to effect positive change and ensure that consumers do not have to compromise on taste or quality.

David Allen, the Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at PepsiCo Foods North America, stated that Frito-Lay hopes to leverage its scale to create a real positive impact for people and the planet. He added that the company is committed to ensuring that its business operations contribute positively to the world, from the way its potatoes and corn are grown to how its products are made, transported, and sold.

In line with this commitment, Frito-Lay has also stated that it aims to continue innovating in the areas of sustainability and environmental impact. As consumers increasingly prioritize sustainability, the company is using its position in the market to create positive change and ensure that its business operations align with its values.
