ATA CEO Urges Congress to Address Workforce Shortages

The American Trucking Associations President and CEO, Chris Spear, testified before a House committee and stated that Congress needs to do more to help the trucking industry develop and retain its workforce in order to meet the freight demands of a growing economy. Spear highlighted specific recommendations, such as addressing the shortage of talent in the industry, ending the assault on the independent contractor model, untangling federal and state regulations, and ensuring that the industry is defined as essential, skilled, and in-demand. He emphasized that workforce development is crucial for job security and growth opportunities for employees.
