New Electric Charging Network
East Bay Community Energy (EBCE) and the City of Tracy in California have introduced a financing program to support the construction of a new electric charging station for large trucks.
The EBCE has approved $4.5 million in financing for Forum Mobility, a zero-emission truck solutions provider, to develop an electric truck charging depot in Livermore. The depot will be part of a network of charging depots being built by Forum Mobility for drayage trucking carriers operating at the Port of Oakland. The funding from EBCE will help facilitate the development of Forum's Greenville Community Charging Depot, capable of simultaneously charging up to 96 trucks.
This initiative aligns with new regulations from the California Air Resources Board that mandate zero-emission trucks for the state's in-state drayage fleet by 2035. The California Energy Commission estimates a need for 157,000 medium- and heavy-duty chargers by 2030 to comply with these regulations and other proposed vehicle rules.
